ACS NewsDinner on a DimeLet the Financial Readiness Program at Army Community Service teach you how to prepare great food on a shoestring budget. Active Military Families Resilience TrainingLearn to bounce back from whatever life throws your way with the Active Military Families Resilience Training offered by Army Community Service. East Bliss CDC has officially opened its doors for business, and is welcoming new patrons. The new facility accommodates 338 infants, toddlers and preschool-aged children. It is conveniently located near the Constitution gate and Soto Physical Fitness Center on Constitution and Kasserine Way. Better Opportunities for Single ParentsBetter Opportunities for Single Parents, a new program at Fort Bliss, hosts meetings the second Wednesday of every month at the CAB Dining Facility, Bldg. 11316 Staff Sgt. Sims Street on East Fort Bliss. The meetings are working lunches held from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for May 9. Join the group and help B.O.S.P. build a program to enrich the lives of single parents. Bring your voice, and your concerns. Discuss issues, plan events and provide support to other single parents. The program is open to active-duty military, DoD/DA civilians and dual-military families who are in a single-parent situation due to TDY, deployment, separate duty stations or other reasons. Free auto care clinicLearn basic auto care, including changing oil, checking tire pressure and more at the Relocation Assistance Program Auto Care Clinic. These free clinics are held at the Auto Crafts Center, Bldg. 820 Marshall Road. Upcoming classes are scheduled for July 17 and October 16. Classes run from 1:30-4 p.m. each day. Class participation is capped at 10 guests. Child care vouchers are provided for CYSS-registered children. Pre-registration is required; register online at www.blissmwr.com/relocation. For most of us, though, no one taught us the best way. Soldiers today face a fast-paced, dynamic economy and need a good financial education to succeed. The Financial Readiness Program at Army Community Service, Bldg. 2494 Ricker Road, is ready and willing to help you meet this challenge and help you and your families achieve your financial goals. Classes are offered monthly, and one-on-one budgeting is available throughout the year. The FRP also offers the Consumer Credit Counseling Service, courtesy of the YWCA . CCCS is a free service that can assist you by working with creditors to develop plans to pay off debt, lower your monthly payments, and essentialy become debt free. We also have a consumer advocate who can help you mediate issues you have with outside agencies or companies that you feel did not provide you the service you deserved or paid for. ASIST and ASIST Tune-Up trainingASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) is a two-day interactive workshop that provides an opportunity to explore your experiences with and attitudes about suicide. In this training you will learn how to understand the needs of a person at risk of suicide, learn suicide first aid, recognize the warning signs of suicide, and learn what community resources are available.
