HQDA AFAP Program

  • If you are a commander, you can support a strong AFAP program in your community, and you can draw on the real-time quality of life information AFAP provides.
  • If you are a Soldier, Retiree, Civilian, or Family member - Active, Guard, or Reserve - you can be part of the local, region, and HQDA AFAP programs.

The Army Family Action Plan (AFAP) is one of the Army's principle programs to ensure that well-being in the Army keeps pace with changing times.  By giving soldiers (active & reserve), civilian employees and families the opportunity to make input into and influence their own standards of living, the AFAP helps the Army attract and retain a well-qualified, high-caliber force; foster soldier and family satisfaction; and stand up programs that encourage confident, self-sufficient soldiers and family members.

In the history of AFAP, 99 changes have been made to legislation, 145 policies and regulations have been revised, and 164 programs and services have been improved at the Department of the Army level.

Some of the these issues include: Pay Increases, Military Savings Plan, Youth Initiatives, TRICARE for Life, Chiropractic Care for Active Duty, Household Goods Weight Allowance Increase for Junior Enlisted and much more.  This program has also improved the quality of life here at Fort Bliss: No fee ATM at the Welcome Center, the Scuds and Suds carwash, School Liaison Officer, and much more.
