  • FRG Foundations – Basic functions and responsibilities of the FRG; command involvement; how to establish and maintain your FRG.  Designed for FRG volunteers, commanders, and all those concerned with the well being of the Army family.

  • Leadership for FRGs – Learn about the characteristics of leaders; understand skills of teamwork, decision making, supervising people, problem solving and public speaking.

  • Building Your FRG Volunteers – How to recruit, motivate, and reward volunteers for your FRG.  Discusses the importance of registering your volunteers and volunteer job descriptions.

  • Getting Your FRG Started – Learn how to encourage participation, energize or improve upon an existing FRG.

  • Money Matters & Treasurer Responsibilities – How to establish and maintain a FRG bank account, identify treasurer duties, what funds may and may not be used for and how to conduct fundraisers.

  • Newsletters for FRGs – How to start a newsletter, resources available, regulations, and helpful do’s and don’ts.

  • Point of Contact Training for FRGs – Learn how to set up, maintain and run a phone tree, the benefits of a phone tree along with what to do in the event of a crisis.

  • Special Events – Learn about one of the essential tasks of the FRG.  Fun events are a must so choosing and planning your event is important.

  • Crisis in the Unit – Learn how to handle crisis situations within the unit.  The importance of your role as a FRG leader.

  • Operation READY – Learn about Resources for Educating About Deployment and You.

  • Preventive Medicine – Learn the do’s and don’t of handling food especially when fundraisers involve handling food.  Receive your Food Handler’s Certification.

FRG Leader Certification Course Training

The Family Readiness Group (FRG) Course is provided by the Army Community Service, Mobilization and Deployment Program.  The training is available for all FRG members and is offered once a month. the following classes are required to receive a FRG Leader Certificate:

  •   Building Your FRG Volunteers

  •   Making Contact ~ Phone tree Point of Contact

  •   Newsletter for FRGs

  •   Money Matters

  •   Building Your FRG – Getting Started

Rear Detachment Course Certification Course Training

The Rear Detachment Course (RDC) is provided by the Fort Bliss Army Community Service, Mobilization and Deployment Program.  The training is available for all RDC personnel, FRG leaders, and civilian personnel that will be involved in rear detachment matters.  The training will be offered every third Thursday of the month except December, the course will be offered the second Thursday of the month. Participants will receive a Certificate of Training for completion of the following required classes:

  • RDC Overview (Roles, Lessons learned)

  • Family Readiness Overview

  • Introduction to Operation READY

  • Resources (Military and Civilian)

  • Army Emergency Relief/Financial Readiness

  • Legal Assistance

  • Crisis Intervention

  • Inspector General

  • Family Advocacy

Homecoming/Reunion Training

The Homecoming/Reunion classes are designed to help soldiers and their family transition from deployment to reunion by maximizing the positive aspects of reunion. Preparation is the key to a smooth transition into reintegration of soldier and family.

Participants are required to call and sign up for the class; classes fill up at 100. Unit FRG registrations are welcome. Arrangements can be made for child care through CYS; the family member must make arrangements for the day/time they will be attending the class.
