Mitchell W. Stout Physical Fitness Center is a newly renovated (2011), state-of-the-art facility with over 60,000 sq. ft. Put yourself to the challenge with 3 full-size basketball courts, 5 racquetball courts, and 3 volleyball courts. The weight rooms feature Hammer Strength, Life Fitness, and Samson equipment and power platforms with Eleiko weights for Olympic weightlifting and power lifting. One weight room features a circuit training area utilizing selectorized equipment, while the free weight area has dumbbells , benches, platforms, and includes a large assortment of bars, plates and bumper plates for all of your lifting needs
Cardiovascular equipment includes treadmills, steppers, elliptical steppers, cross trainers, stationary bikes and Summit trainers in addition to 31 Spinning bikes. The cardio loft also features six television sets for your enjoyment.
Group exercise including aerobics, Pilates, Gravity, step, TRX classes, Spinning, Yoga, Tai Chi and an ever changing assortment of classes is offered by offered by certified instructors. All group exercise classes are offered on a suspended wood floor with a disco quality sound system. Personal Training is by appointment only and for those who really want a challenge, we have the “Biggest Loser” program twice a year. Body fat testing using Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) is available by appointment for $5. All classes are free of charge! Check out our detailed list of aerobics and fitness classes.

The Team Bliss Snack Bar, located in the lobby of Stout Fitness Center, offers fruit smoothies, along with an assortment of “sensational shakes” such as the muscle builder, fat burner, pure protein, energizer and power shakes. Patrons may customize their drinks by selecting from a menu of recommended additives, which target specific areas such as fat loss, muscle gain or nutrition. Finally, customers get to choose from a myriad of flavors like strawberry, banana, piña colada, raspberry, cappuccino, vanilla, chocolate, mango or peach to complete their drink concoction. 
The Stout Track and Field Complex, with a six lane, 400-meter track and a 100-meter straight away features a full size dual football and soccer field, a scoreboard, and real grass landscaping.

Indoor soccer tournament
The Fort Bliss indoor soccer team will host an indoor soccer tournament February 4-5 at Biggs Gym. The tournament is open to all teams, both military and from the surrounding community.
Each team is guaranteed three games. The top two teams will receive team trophies. The tournament will follow a group play into single elimination bracket format.

Fire Brand Boot Camp at Ironworks Gym
Do you need a kick in the pants to reach your fitness goals? Join the fitness professionals at Ironworks Gym for the Fire Brand Boot Camp, and see results through functional training. Ironworks Gym is located at Bldg. T20700 Anzio Way on East Fort Bliss.
The six-week course meets from 6-7 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday from February 7-March 15. Registration costs $60 per person and is open to individuals age 18 and older. There must be at least eight participants registered to hold the program. Register at the Soto Gym Juice Bar by Monday, February 6. For more information, call 744-5785.
Border Rumble boxing smoker
Family and MWR Sports and El Paso Golden Gloves present the Border Rumble boxing smoker Friday, February 10 at Stout Gym. Bouts will begin at 6 p.m. Spectators are welcome and entry is free.
Active-duty Military with five or fewer amateur fights can participate. Both male and female participants are welcome. A bout will consist of three, one-minute rounds. Sixteen-ounce gloves will be used in the lighter weight classes and 18-ounce gloves for all other weight classes. Bouts will be determined after weigh-ins. The event is sanctioned by the USA Boxing Border Association.
Participants need to complete all requirements before allowed to fight. Requirements include recent physical, pre-fight physical and a sworn statement that Soldier has five or fewer amateur fights signed by commanding officer. Weigh-ins will take place Thursday, February 9 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at Stout Gym.

Army Strong Wrestling
Are you a wrestler? Join the Army Strong Wrestling Team offered through Team Bliss Sports and Fitness. Registration is now open and the season begins Monday, February 27.
Army Strong Wrestling is open to active-duty military. Practices will be held at 6 p.m. each Monday at Soto Gym, with additional locations to be announced.

Therapeutic yoga session
Clear stress from your body and mind during a special therapeutic yoga session offered by Team Bliss Sports and Fitness.
The class costs $15 per person and will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, February 29 at Stout Gym. There are 20 seats available.
Instructor Mega Sullivan DeRosa will teach participants to support deep healing and improved well-being while giving their bodies the gift of a mini retreat. Therapeutic yoga is a blend of restorative poses, gentle yoga, breat awareness and guided meditation that encourages your body to release and your mind to open.

Spring Open Softball League
The Team Bliss Sports and Fitness Spring Open Softball League will being play Saturday, March 3. A mandatory coaches meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, February 22 at Soto Gym.
The league is open to active-duty military, family members 18 and older (with military ID), retirees and DoD/DA civilians. Registration costs $225 per team. All teams are guaranteed a minimum of eight games. All games are played on Saturday.

Civilian Fitness Program applications due March 9
The Civilian Fitness Program is an opportunity for Army civilians to develop and continue healthy lifestyle changes. The six-month, structured program is open only to civilian employees of Fort Bliss.
The six-month program begins Monday, March 26 and involves pre- and post-program fitness assessments and one-hour workouts three times a week. Guidance will be provided on exercise program design, nutrition, and aerobics, but the actual program will be determined by the participants. Group fitness classes offered include TRX, gravity, yoga, pilates, spin and more, all on a rotating schedule.

Women's Volleyball League
The Team Bliss Sports Women's Volleyball League will begin play the week of March 12. The league is open to active-duty Soldiers, family members 18 and older, and DoD/DA civilians.
Registration is free for active-duty military and costs $15 for all others. All teams are guaranteed a minimum of eight games. All games are played Saturday at Biggs Gym.
There will be a mandatory coaches meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 7 at Soto Gym.

St. Patty's Day 6-Mile Race
Lace up your running shoes and be sure to wear green when you take part in the St. Patty's Day 6-Mile Race at 8 a.m. Saturday, March 17 at Soto Gym, located at Bldg. 20751 Constitution Drive on East Fort Bliss.
The 6-Mile Saint Patty's Day Run is open to all, including the El Paso community. The first 200 runners registered will receive T-shirts. The first 100 registered are guaranteed sizes.
Age groups are 19-under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49 and 50-over. Early registration is now open at both Stout and Soto Gyms and online at www.active.com. Early registration is free for active-duty military assigned to Fort Bliss and costs $20 for all other runners. Early registration closes Wednesday, March 14. Late registration will be held on-site from 7-7:50 a.m. the day of the event. Late registration costs and additional $10 per runner.

Army Strong Freestyle Wrestling Tournament
Team Bliss Sports and Fitness will host the Army Strong Freestyle Wrestling Tournament Saturday, March 24 at Soto Gym. Weigh-ins begin at 8 a.m. and matches begin at 9 a.m.
The tournament is open to all wrestlers ages 8 and up. Registration costs $10 per wrestler.
Medals will be awarded to first- through fourth-place finishers in each division. All competitors age 10 and under will receive medals.

10K Post Championship
The Fort Bliss Intramurals 10K Post Championship will take place at 6:30 a.m. Friday, April 6 at Soto Gym on East Fort Bliss. On-site registration begins at 5:30 a.m. the day of the event.
The 10K run is open to all military ID holders and DoD/DA civilians. Registration is free for active-duty military assigned to Fort Bliss and costs $10 for all others. Age groups are 19 and under, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, and 50 and over.
This is a Commander's Cup event. Only active-duty results contribute to Commander's Cup standings.

Fort Bliss combatives team tryouts
Fort Bliss and the 1st Armored Division is currently forming its combatives team to compete at the Army championships. All skill and experience levels are welcome to train and try out for the team. Training takes place at the installation combatives facility, Bldg. A493, from 6-7:30 a.m. each Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Other training times are available for those unable to attend these sessions. The team travels to compete in both civilian and military tournaments. For more information call 744-2467. Unit PT Reservations
Effective immediately, all Unit PT Reservations for Spinning and Group Exercise will be done at the front desk of Stout Gym. When making reservations, you must provide the following information:
- Type of PT requested, i.e., Spinning or Group Exercise
- Unit name
- Number of participants
- Contact information
If your unit is not in the requested room by 6 a.m., your reservation is CANCELLED and will open it up to anyone present. All 6 - 7 a.m. classes are for Soldiers in PT Gear. This includes our spinning program, as well as group exercise program which is held in the aerobics room. If the class is not full, the priority goes to active duty Soldiers, then dependents of active duty Soldiers, and then to civilians. The class instructor has final say on all class related issues.

The center features a weight room with a complete line of Hammerstrength weight equipment and a cardio room, equipped with two treadmills, three cross-trainers, one stepper and two bicycles. Ideal for those who want a quick workout, the gym is open to all soldiers, civilian personnel and family members. Patrons are asked to bring towels for their own personal use and, since there are no attendants on duty, are also asked to help take care of the facility. Big Ed's Gym also features a stereo system and television sets in both the weight and cardio rooms.

This facility includes nearly $2 million in equipment and fixtures. It includes a 10,000-square-foot weight room, a spin room that accommodates 60 bikes and a cardio room large enough to house 60 treadmills, 60 ellipticals, 60 bikes, 20 stair steppers and 10 rowing machines. The facility also has steam rooms, a snack bar and recreation room for patrons to use. Also housed at this facility are Unit Funds, BOSS and Outdoor Adventures representatives.
