Youthplex Building The Youthplex on main post, which houses the Middle School and Teen (MS&T) programs, has a game room with billiards, foosball, video and board games, computer lab, music room, lounge with big screen TV, a video library, teen patio and playground, arts and crafts activities, and a skateboard park. Also a full use gym for a variety of activities.

Eligibility:  Young people, who are in the 6th through the 12th grade as of the first day of school, who are dependents of Active Duty Military, Military Retiree, Reservists, National Guard, and Civilian Employees to Fort Bliss. Transition from SAS to MS&T takes place on the first day of school.

Jammin' at Teen NightWe are happy to welcome you and your youth into our MS&T program. It is the mission of Fort Bliss Child and Youth Services to provide a quality program that meets the needs of youths, parents, to support the military life style, promote character values and reduce conflicts between parental responsibilities and unit mission requirements.

CYS REGISTRATION: CYS Central Enrollment and Registration (CER) is located at building 1743 on Victory Road, 568-4374. Before using the Middle School and Teen Programs or facilities, a registration packet must be completed. Annual registration is now free. Packets for registration may be picked up at the CER or at the Youthplex but should be returned to CER at 1743 Victory Road. Parents are asked to update files anytime information changes (i.e. phone number changes, emergency designee moves, etc.).

Money for College

Are you looking to put yourself or your child through College this year? If so, this class is a must. So much money goes unused ever year. Learn how to seek Scholarships, grants, and federal loans. This FREE class will be held on Tuesday, August 12 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at ACS. Call 568-7088 to register.

Youth and Money

The Financial Readiness Program is offering a class for parents and children on financial issues. Teens and tweens have money; whether they have part-time jobs or get money from relatives. This class will teach our youth the importance of saving and budgeting, so they can create wealth in their adulthood rather than debt. This FREE class will be held Thursday, August 14 from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. at ACS, Bldg. 2494. For more information call ACS at 568-1132.

CYS Summer Camp

Come join in the southwest summer fun and excitement at one of our two premier camp sites!

School-Age Services (SAS) will offer full-day structured & supervised activities during the EPISD summer break through August 22. The camp is open to all CYS children entering grades 2nd to 6th in the 2008-09 school year. The fun begins daily at 8 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m. with extended care hours from 5: 30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Both SAS sites, Main SAS, Bldg. 131 and Logan SAS, Bldg. 3505 will offer field trips, sports, computers, matinees, Mad Science, cooking & craft projects, 4-H projects, and much more.

Fees are based upon total family income and can range from $29 to $91 a week or $18 a day. Ask about the 20% multiple child discounts for siblings in regular care at either our CDC or SAS programs or with an FCC provider!

Child Development Services will offer a summer program for those children who will be entering kindergarten or 1st grade and Youth Services will offer a Middle School & Teen Summer Program for youth entering 7th and up grades in the 2008-09 school year.

Families must be registered with Child & Youth Services before attending. Spaces are limited and advance payments are required. To make an appointment to register, call 568-4374 or stop by Central Registration, located in the ITR facility, Bldg. 1743. You will need to bring with you, child’s updated shot records and physical forms, child’s birth certificate, your military ID and most recent LES(s).

The Middle School and Teen Programs are offering an extensive array of summer camps this season. Camps will be offered every week throughout the summer, all of which begin at 8 a.m. Upcoming camps include the following:

WRESTLING CAMP

  • August 4-8; 9 a.m. to noon
  • Ages5-15; $15

DIABLO'S DANCE CAMP

CYS will host a two day dance camp with the Diablo’s Dancers on August 7 and 8 from 1–3pm. The camp is open to children 5 years and up and will be held at the Logan SAS, Bldg. 3508. Camp graduates will perform at the Diablo’s game on Saturday, August 9. Cost is $25.

START SMART FUNDAMENTALS CAMP

  • August 11-15; 9-11 a.m.
  • Ages 3-5; $15

Programs In the Middle School and Teen programs we offer programs that enhance self-esteem, promote a healthy lifestyle, and encourage good citizenship while providing a time and place for social interaction.

  • Youth Sponsorship Program: This program is for incoming youth who will be matched and teamed up with a sponsor to help show them the ropes, navigate and familiarize themselves with the facility, its programs and activities.

  • CYS Tech Lab: Monday through Friday from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Youth Service's technology lab provides access to computers and a variety of educational software. CYS staff monitors usage for appropriate material. Tech Center participants have the chance to participate in both hands-on-enrichment projects and structured computer activities.
  • Power Hour: Monday through Friday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Power Hour is the Boys and Girls Club of America homework center component of Child and Youth Services. Students can earn points to select prizes for the amount of work they've done.
  • Keystone Club: Tuesdays from 4:45-5:30 p.m. This club provides young people in grades 9th through 12th with opportunities for growth and recognition. The club performs community service, recreation activities and more.
  • Torch Club: Tuesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. A club offering services and leadership to youth ages 11 to 13. Torch club members elect officers and work together to plan activities.
  • Cooking Club: Tuesdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m. This club is for youths who want to learn about quick healthy foods and the value of nutrition.
  • Photography Club: Mondays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Through various aspects of photography, members express themselves creatively and learn skills that build confidence and self-esteem.
  • Desert Bliss Video News Crew (Journalism): Thursdays from 4:30 to 6 p.m. This club is for youth who like to write, take pictures, interview people, and like to know what's going on at the youth center. Youth write and publish a monthly newsletter designed by youth for the youth. Newsletter shows upcoming events, talks about the past weekend events, and indicates a short biography about the youth of the month, birthdays of youth and so much more.   • Club Tech: Monday - Thursday 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. (except Wednesday). This club covers all the BGCA Digital Arts Suite (Photo Tech, Music Tech, Movie Tech, Design Tech and Web Tech). A great program for learning new skills and how to use them on the computer. Club Tech also covers MindStorm Robotics and Computer Animation.
  • Drama Club: Mondays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. If you are considering a career in the theater arts or just like to write plays and have fun consider joining our drama club.
  • Engineering Club: Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Participants in this club will gain useful skills on engineering basics from bridge building to model rockets.
  • Fine Arts: Thursdays from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. Participants will use various art mediums in drawing and painting.
  • Sports and Recreation:Basketball time! Wednesdays from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. This club will experience sports and recreation activities from basketball to tennis.
  • Arts and Crafts: Every Wednesday from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. come join the fun of crafting. Participants are exposed to various craft mediums such as leather, pewter, wood, clay, plaster, and many other types of crafts.
  • Entrepreneur Club: Thursdays from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. Club members learn about operating a business. This club operates a snack bar for youth in the center as well as selling snacks at sporting events such as soccer and basketball.
  • “Against the Flow” Youth Bible Study: Thursdays from 3:30 - 4:30. Youth Bible study is designed to teach the youth to make the right choices in their lives. Mr. Mendoza, the youth Chaplain challenges the youth to go “Against the Flow”.
  • 4H Ceramics: Fridays from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Practice the olde world craft of ceramics. This club creates beautiful ceramic pieces for home, office, or holiday gifts. You will also learn different painting techniques such as dry brush, glazing and acrylics.
  • 4H Astronomy: Fridays from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. The magic of the night skies is exposed for your enjoyment and learning. Constellations, stars, and planets.
  • Field Trips: Field trips offer a unique opportunity for Youth to explore and experience culture and communities of this area. Popular field trip destinations have included theaters, bowling, paintball, corn maize, Adventure Zone, swimming, Bobo’s Family Fun Center, Carlsbad Caverns, and many other places. Off post trips require written parent permission. Costs will vary. As always parents are welcome to volunteer for chaperone duty. Current list of trips or special events are on the monthly calendar.
  • Home Schooled Youths: Fridays 1:00 to 2:30. Come join us during this time frame for fun. Many options will be available each week from Arts & Crafts to Sports & Recreation to Science & Technology.
