Fort Bliss MWR provides outstanding facilities for soldiers, family members, reservists, civilian employees and visitors to post:
- A premier Rod & Gun facility (which is open to the public)
- The largest bowling center in the Army (with 52 lanes)
- Two 18-hole golf courses
- An Olympic-size swimming pool
Civilian Fitness Program
The Civilian Fitness Program is an opportunity for Army civilians to develop and continue healthy lifestyle changes. The six-month, structured program is open ONLY to civilian employees of Fort Bliss.
The program will involve a pre- and post-fitness assessment that includes a bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), the three-minute step test, sit and reach test, tests of dynamic strength (one-minute timed sit-ups and push-ups), absolute strength (bench press on a selectorized machine) and one-mile walk for time. The actual program will be three times per week in one-hour blocks for a total of six months. Guidance will be provided on exercise program design, nutrition, and aerobics, but the actual program will be determined by the participants. Group fitness classes offered include TRX, gravity, yoga, pilates, spin and more, all on a rotating schedule.

Team Bliss Youth Cross Country
Team Bliss Youth Sports Cross Country registration is through September 30 for boys and girls ages 5 to 18. The season begins August 23. Cost is $40 for the first child and 20% off for each additional child.
Your child must be a Child, Youth and School Services member, if not please register at Parent Central (call 568-4374 to make an appointment). Prenatal Yoga begins in September 2010
Prenatal Yoga begins in September 2010! Beginning September 1, Stout Physical Fitness Facility will begin offering a prenatal yoga class. Prenatal yoga is a safe and gentle practice for women throughout their pregnancy; it enhances relaxation, comfort, and enjoyment. Students explore poses, breath-work, meditation, and sound to develop flexibility, calm, enjoyment, comfort, and confidence during pregnancy and in preparation for labor and childbirth.
The class will be held every Wednesday from 1015-1115 beginning September 1 at Stout PFF. For more information contact Teia Mack at 744-5785
17th Annual German American Oktoberfest Night Run
Are you ready for the challenge? Register for the 17th annual German American Oktoberfest Night Run Saturday, September. 11 at Kelly Park on Fort Bliss. The run begins at 6 p.m. and offers an 8-kilometer run and 5-kilometer fun walk and an 8K military team division run.
Pre-race activities start at 4 p.m. and include vendors selling German coffee and pastries, a jumping balloon for the children, and performances by the Big Fat Dixieland Band and German schuhplattler dancers. Post-race activities start at 6 p.m. and include vendors selling German beer and bratwurst, and more.
Interested participants and teams should register at Stout or Soto Physical Fitness Facilities no later than 6 p.m. Thursday, September 9, or at Kelly Park Friday, September 10, from noon until 4 p.m. Registration fee is $15.
Late registration will be at Kelly Park Saturday, September 11, from 3 - 5:30 p.m. Late registration closes at 5:30 p.m. with no exceptions, and costs $20.
Awards will be given to the top finishers in each category. Categories include top male and female finishers and the top three runners per age group as well as for the top three teams participating. Sport Climbing to Rough and Ready Hills - September 25
Beginner climbers as well as experienced climbers are welcome on this trip. A Pair of Nuts returns for Centennial Comedy Series
Are you ready to go nuts? Then don't miss the return of A Pair of Nuts at the Centennial Comedy Series Saturday, September 25. The show starts at 7 p.m.; doors open at 6 p.m.
Yamil Piedra and Johnny Trabanco, known collectively as the sketch-comedy duo A Pair of Nuts, have performed together since 1998. Most recently seen on VH1's "Money Hungry," the pair have been featured at Comedy Central's South Beach Comedy Festival and online at Funny or Die and College Humor. They are the stars of MegaTV's Spanish-language sketch comedy show "El Vacilon."
Special guests Lisa Alvarado and Yoursie Thomas also bring nonstop laughs. Alvarado has been seen on "Last Comic Standing" and Nick at Nite's "The Search for the Funniest Mom in America 2." Thomas has been working the comedy circuit for nearly 10 years and has performed many times for troops stationed overseas. Logan Physical Fitness Facility
On Monday, July 26, Logan Physical Fitness Facility (PFF) will go under renovation. This is a 4 phase project funded with Stimulus dollars. Phase 1 will include upgrades to the locker room areas and the start of a new parking lot on the Westside of the facility. Other significant improvements will be additional cardio space and complete renovation of basketball court and air conditioning. Facility will remain open with certain sections closed as areas are renovated. There may be short time period closures as utilities are upgraded and tied in. Facility staff will continue to post and talk with patrons as renovation goes on-to keep them informed of area closures.

New Pool Hours of Operation
Community Pool hours of operation for the remainder of the summer will be:
Saturday-Sunday.......1100-1900
Holiday (Labor Day)...1100-1900
Biggs Water Park will remain open during the week until Labor Day with normal summer hours of operation. Patrons, including Active Duty, family members, DA civilians, and NAF employees may swim for FREE. Guests are $2 per person.
The pool at Bliss Inn is now closed.
Adult swim lessons and water aerobics
Adult swim lessons are now being offered every Saturday 9 a.m.; classes are free for active-duty Soldiers and $25 dollars for eight 45-minute lessons for all others.

Baby Bubble Hour
Baby Bubble Hour is a new program for parents and children who are under the age of two (no exceptions will be allowed for older children) to come enjoy the water in a peaceful setting. Swimming begun in 100-, 200-Mile Clubs
Swimming has begun for the 2010 100- and 200-Mile Clubs at Replica Pool. Come in and swim some laps to log your miles.
Swimmers log their distance in the official log book and when their milestone is met the swimmer tells the staff to receive their awards. Use of equipment does not count toward mileage goal. For information, call Replica Pool at 568-7431.
Bosu Step and Sculpt
Bosu Step and Sculpt is a 90-minute class from 8:45-10:15 a.m. Thursday mornings. The first half of class will consist of high-intensity aerobics, followed by 45 minutes of body sculpting. Be prepared for an intense workout! For more information, contact Teia Mack at 568-3826.
Kickbox and Sculpt
Kickbox and Sculpt is a 90-minute class on Tuesday mornings from 8:45-10:15 a.m. The first half of class will consist of high-intensity kickboxing, followed by 45 minutes of body sculpting. This workout is not for the faint of heart! For more information, contact Teia Mack at 568-3826.
Wounded Warrior Program Discounts
MWR would like to remind individuals with a "Wounded Warrior Card" that they are entitled to the following discounts:
- Free games of bowling and free shoe rental at Fort Bliss Bowling Center.
- Free club rental, free cart rental and free green fees at George V. Underwood Golf Complex.
- Free usage of MWR Park facilities.
