2007–2008 Merit Scholarship Application and Directions

  1. Team Bliss Merit Scholarships are awarded to eligible applicants planning to enroll or enrolled in two-year college (resident or online),four-year college or university (resident or online) or vocational school in accordance with the rules and regulations established herein. Team Bliss Scholarships are for spouses and children of active-duty or retired enlisted servicemembers of any rank and are sponsored by The Fort Bliss Officer, Civilian & Spouse Association (FBOCSA). Applications will be reviewed anonymously by a special Selection Committee.
  2. Scholarships will be awarded in each of three categories. Minimum awards will be $1,000. Team Bliss – immediate family member of an active-duty or retired enlisted servicemember (1) Team Bliss High School Senior (2) Team Bliss College Student (3) Team Bliss Spouse
  3. Rules:
    1. ***Active duty and retired servicemembers are NOT eligible to apply for Team Bliss scholarships.
    2. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5.
    3. Applicants who receive full-tuition scholarships or appointments to attend one of the service academies must withdraw their application and forfeit any Team Bliss Scholarship award.
    4. An applicant may apply in only one scholarship category per application year.
    5. No applicant may receive a total of more than two Team Bliss scholarships from the FBOCSA Scholarship Fund. The scholarships may be in any combination of categories.
  4. Recipients of merit scholarships will be notified by mail before the May 2008 FBOCSA luncheon. Presentation of the merit scholarships will be made in at that luncheon.
  5. Funding procedures
    1. Scholarship awards will be mailed directly for deposit in the student's tuition account IAW the educational institution's scholarship process.
    2. Final disposition of merit scholarship monies will be made by May 31, 2008, and must be used by May 31, 2009, or the money will be returned to FBOCSA.
  6. Deadline: The completed application and all supporting documents must be postmarked by midnight March 15, 2008 to be considered. Applications can be completed using word-processing programs. Handwritten applications are highly discouraged.
